Sorry guy's if this is a question that's been asked over and over, I searched but couldn't find what i'm looking for..

My good 'ol 1998 zx-9 has never had an issue but recently after sitting for 2 years it's got a problem I can't figure out. I put a new battery in and the bike was almost impossible to start and when it did, it seem to be running on a cylinder or two so I changed the plugs and cleaned the carbs with no improvement. I think it may be a coil issue but i'm unsure on how to test and where to start. Can someone please give me a direction to start?

Though fitting the new battery , vehicle not worked then it may be the engine damaged so check the engine and take your vehicle at dealership for solve this issue.
