Hi everyone. I'm lookin to buy my first bike soon and hopefully have some fun riding this summer. I got my license just a few years ago but now i've got some $$ to take the plunge. I'm not a big fan of constantly buying and selling and didnt want a really old bike to break down on. I've got my eye on a ninja 400r, which should be just right for power and ease with cheap insurance. Anything over 400cc has twice the insurance rate where I am.

Anyone have any advice on purchasing it? I have done some reading here about dealership costs etc. MSRP for 400r is reduced recently in Canada from $7499 to $6999. I can probably get another $100 off but any bike this small has limited leeway in negotiations I'm guessing. Is $400 or so a reasonable estimate of dealer closing costs.

With the dollar being par most days its a shame canadian prices are $500-1000 higher but 400r isnt available to buy over the border if i tried.
