I have a 2000 Zr 750 and my friend hit his own car while learning to ride. (It was actually pretty funny to watch) However, in crashing the bike the housing fell off. I attached a picture that showed the extent of the damage. Would the housing being off cause the bike to not start? When I attempt to start it it sounds like it wants to turn over.

wow the a bit of damage but i wouldn't think the housing falling off would be the reason it isn't starting i'd start checking on other things like the starter or even the wiring in the controls on the handle bars and see if that helps

Well the starter and controls all seem to work. It sounds like it wants to turn over.. but for some reason doesn't. It sounds normal when it attempts to start. All of the spark plugs and fuses seem to be in working order also.
