I have a 2000 zx6-j (zx6r). I am trying to get feedback before going to a cycle shop and paying $$$$$. Recently I left my bike out without covering it in a somewhat bad rainstorm. About 1-2 days after the storm I started it up and drove it to work. about 5 min in the ride it wouldn’t go past 2,000 without just bogging out and dyeing. Keep in mind it's carbureted. It will start and stay idle. My friend suggested that there might be water in my lines ?? is there a product I can use just for bikes to get it out?/ (i know there is one for cars) just wondering if anyone else had this problem and how I should go about fixing it.

Thanks for any feedback :)

I'd certainly try draining the carbs first. There is a drain screw on each carb float bowl. If you drain it into a clean container, you can see if there is any water or dirt present.

The fuel system cleaners and driers will work on bikes as well. Just follow the mixing directions. You just would use less per tank than for a car or truck.

If there is enough water in the carbs to act as you describe, you would still need to drain them first, and then use the fuel additive to clear out the rest.

Thanks, I'll try it out this weekend when I get some time and keep you posted. Thanks again.
