hiway bars

I have been absent from the forum for a long while but since have installed hiway bars and pegs on my ride, incredibly confortable, gives you several positions for your legs and makes even short trips more enjoyable.

Lineman 1st highway bars are protection for your bike, you can lay your bike down and the frame and handle bars want touch. 2nd for highway pegs. If you notice on some bikes they have highawy pegs but no highway bar.

Wath are highway bars really for?

On a couple of sites I've seen they consider highway bars as not protection for bike damage in case of a drop or accident but rather a place to install foot pegs, are they really only for that purpose? I would love some advice on this.
